One of the most famous landmarks in Berlin, Germany is the Reichstag Dome. It is a large glass dome atop the Parliament building with a 360 degree view of the stunning Berlin cityscape. This amazing Reichstag Glass Dome was designed by Architect Norman Foster to be environment-friendly and the energy efficient features of the dome which include the use daylight to shine through its mirrored cone effectively decrease the carbon emissions of the building. This gleaming metal and glass dome also preserves remnants of the building’s history including the graffiti left by the Red Army in 1945. The somewhat futuristic design of this dome represents a united and democratic Germany. Foster was given the Pritzker Prize in 1999 for his work on Reichstag Dome.

There are many legendary tales surrounding this cave and was even believed to be inhabited by witches and monsters a long time ago. But the existence of the grotto was rediscovered only in 1826 by German writer August Kopisch who described the grotto’s extraordinary beauty and charm. The Fontana di Trevi or Trevi Fountain in Rome, Italy is the most famous fountain in Rome and possibly the world. It is also considered as one of the most beautiful fountains in the world. The fountain is believed to have gotten its name from its location, Trevi Fountain is positioned at the intersection of three roads, tre vie. The fountain’s beginnings go back to early Roman times and it was the terminal point of the Aqua Virgo Aqueduct that provides waters for the thermal baths. The flowing waters of Trevi is also called Virgin Waters because of a legend that a young Roman girl showed the source of the spring to thirsty soldiers. This fountain made by Nicola Salvi under Pope Clement XII and considered as the most beautiful Baroque fountains in Rome has Neptune riding a chariot in the shape of a shell as its central figure. The chariot is being pulled by two sea horses and guided by two Tritons. One of the horses is calm while the other one is restive, and this symbolizes the fluctuating moods of the sea.

This legendary fountain which dominates the Trevi square and has the Palazzo Poli as its backdrop is believed to grant the wishes of those who throw coins in its waters and those who do will certainly be able to go back to Rome. It is advised that you should toss the coin over your shoulder with your back facing the fountain. Still, others believe that you must throw three coins in the fountain with your right hand over your left shoulder. St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City is a very popular tourist destination. The crypt below deserves a visit too as it houses the architectural fragments of early churches on the site and the tombs of Popes including the one of Pope John Paul II. There is a chapel in this crypt and a glass wall at the end where tourist can view the reliquary below the altar which is believed to contain the bones of St. Peter. St. Peter’s Basilica is truly an interesting place to visit, aside from its rich cultural and religious history it is also home to many beautiful and striking works of art.

Its sanctuary was used as royal burial place and its entrance door is magnificently decorated and inscribed with Arabesque calligraphy. Chellah Rabat experienced a very strong earthquake during the 18^th century which destroyed many of its structures from ancient Morocco. What used to be a thriving city and port, Chellah is now a major tourist attraction and is converted to a lush and beautiful garden.

Edinburgh Castle is Scotland’s most famous castle, it towers over the city and is atop Castle Rock. The castle is 400 feet above sea level and draws approximately one million visitors every year. Edinburgh Castle is a very popular tourist destination because of its rich history, its magnificent views, and its interesting architectural structure that would delight any individual. Even children will have fun exploring its interiors and will be amazed at its military garrison and cannons. Visitors of the castle are treated to magnificent views from every point whether you are on the lowest levels or in the highest levels of the castle a breathtaking view is right in front of you. From the north you can see the mountains of The Kingdom of Fife and below you is the famous Princes Gardens. The Edinburgh Castle which was once the royal residence of Scottish Kings has a very interesting building history, the oldest building in the castle and in Edinburgh is St. Margaret’s Chapel which dates from the 12^th century which King David I built privately for the Royal Family and in honor of his mother St. Margaret of Scotland, the Great Hall was built by James IV around 1513 to be the chief place of State Assembly in the castle, the Half Moon Battery was constructed under James Douglas, 4^th Earl of Morton’s supervision on the site of old David’s Tower after the Lang Siege, and the Scottish National War Memorial after the First World War in honor of the Scots who had died in the First World War and from following conflicts. The castle also houses the Honours or the Crown Jewels of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny or the Stone of Scone on which Scottish Kings had been crowned, the 15^th century gun Mons Meg, the One O’clock Gun, and the National War Museum of Scotland. Statues of William Wallace and King Robert The Bruce are placed in the walls of the entrance to Edinburg Castle in honor of the two greatest heroes in Scottish history.
